Project Part 1
- Due: October 31
- Weight: 5%
For this assignment, you will need to design the user interface of
your web application, including page content, layout and organization,
as well as workflow and navigation. The look-and-feel of your design
should be "inspired" (to some extent) by your chosen e-business
domain.
The deliverable for this assignment is a document consisting of the
following sections:
- Problem statement: In this section, you will describe a
brief sales' pitch for your chosen application.
- Navigation: You will document all possible navigation
behavior of the application's users with a state-transition diagram,
illustrating the various behavioral states that the user may go
through during his/her interaction with the web application
(corresponding to the distinct pages of the web application) and the
mechanism (static links, calls to CGI scripts, local Javascript) of
the transition for one state to the next.
- Page design: You should provide drawings, illustrating the
distinct pages of the application (corresponding to the behavioral
states of the above diagram). Both the navigation diagram and the page
designs should be accompanied with short textual descriptions
explaining the functionalities delivered by each page and the nature
of the user's interaction with them.
- References: Finally, you should also include, a list of
pointers to web applications you have reviewed for this assignment and
the design ideas you may have adopted from them.
The design should reflect how the basic functionalities (described in
project.html) will be delivered by the
application.
Remember, "keep your application design simple" in terms of layout and
controls.
